HERELuzerne County judicial candidate Tom Marsilio sharply criticized Luzerne County District Attorney David Lupas Saturday, alleging the DA’s office might be indirectly responsible for a man’s death.
Marsilio, who is running against Lupas for a judgeship, wants the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office to investigate the district attorney’s handling of an arrest warrant for the man accused of killing Lewis Jones Jr. William R. Perrego allegedly beat Jones to death over a bottle of whiskey Wednesday, inside an apartment at 21 North St., Wilkes-Barre. On Thursday, Perrego was charged with Jones’ murder.
A warrant for Perrego’s arrest was issued March 5 after he failed to appear in court on theft charges. The district attorney’s office had the warrant for several days before turning it over to the Luzerne County Sheriff’s Department, The Citizens’ Voice reported.
The warrant was delayed at the request of the public defender’s office, Lupas recently told The Citizens’ Voice.
“Clearly Mr. Marsilio is seeking attention,” Lupas said. “He’s desperate for attention and it seems he will make any type of ridiculous and outrageous statements which he thinks will get him free publicity.”
Lupas said it is common for warrants to take several days to go through the court system.
“Obviously, as a result of the negligence of the office of the district attorney, someone is dead,” Marsilio said.
When asked what type of law Lupas might have broken, Marsilio referred comment to the attorney general’s office.
The attorney general’s office was closed Saturday due to inclement weather.

Umm, I don't know what to say or to react to this, other than this does contain Davey boy's usual 'seeking attention' reply... Same ol', same ol', right, DL?? Anyway, this is an odd allegation, but the warrant was held for whatever reason (right or wrong). Obviously, if it wasn't held, a man would still be alive.

That's so sad, but not unbelievable coming from that office...
